Sheryl Aaron, LICSW
As a certified EMDR therapist, I specialize in helping people heal from and move beyond trauma and other distressing situations. In addition to this area of expertise, I am skilled at helping clients work through anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, addiction, infertility, and parenting concerns.
Prior to starting my own private practice, I engaged clients in individual and group therapy at a range of settings, including The University of Maryland Health Center, St. Elizabeth's Hospital, So Others Might Eat and The Viva Center.
A licensed independent clinical social worker in D.C. and Maryland, I hold a master’s in social work from The Catholic University of America and a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University.
I continue to receive advanced training from EMDR of Greater Washington and have completed specialized training in postpartum mood and anxiety disorders at the renowned Postpartum Stress Center. I regularly engage in other continuing education courses on complex trauma, attachment, reproductive mental health, mindfulness, somatic imagery and ego state therapy. I also participate in monthly supervision groups to hone my therapeutic understanding and skills.
I am an active member of the Greater Washington Society for Clinical Social Work, EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), DMV Women's Mental Health Consortium, and DC Therapist Connect.
